WV Lions Sight Conservation Foundation, Inc.

Lions throughout West Virginia have enjoyed nearly fifty years of service through the West Virginia Lions Sight Conservation Foundation, Inc. During these years, the Foundation has helped many West Virginians in need to see better and to hear better.

The purpose of the Foundation is to meet the sight and hearing needs of the citizens of West Virginia, if other aid is not available. The Sight Foundation provides services which normally cannot be provided by an individual or local club.

Camp Kno Koma logo
Our goal is to provide a summer camping experience for children with diabetes in and around the state of West Virginia. Camp Kno-Koma provides an unmatched opportunity for learning and fun. Surrounded by counselors and other kids with diabetes, campers are freed from the feelings of being different and are able to enjoy one of childhood's great pleasures; summer camp.

Youth grow into solid citizens when they learn how to make responsible decisions, communicate effectively, and avoid drugs. That's where Lions Quest fits in! Lions Quest is a schools-based life-skills program for children from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This Contest encourages young people worldwide to artistically express their visions of peace. Each year's contest consists of an original theme incorporating peace. Participants use a variety of mediums, are unique, and express the young artists' life experiences and culture.

Pilog Dogs, Inc logo
Since our start-up, a few Lions Clubs-mainly in the Columbus area-have donated money and time to this project of mobility. Lions Clyde R. Tipton and Dwight Swepston, members of the Tri-Village Lions CLub, presented a motion in 1960 at the State Convention of the Ohio Lions to adopt Pilot Dogs as a state project. This became a reality at the 41st Convention and Pilot Dogs was granted permission to be known as "Lions Pilot Dogs" by Lions International. Over 500 Clubs now support our service to the blind.
