In compliance with Article VI, Section 2 of the Standard Form District By-Laws, I hereby issue the Official Call for the 2020 District 29-L Elections. The District 29-L Elections will be held Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2020. Balloting will be done by mail. The purpose of the elections is to elect a District Governor, First Vice District Governor, Second Vice District Governor, Trustees to the West Virginia Lions Sight Conservation Foundation and other elected positions, if required. Issued by me on this day, March 20, 2020.

On March 19, 2020 the Council of Governors of the Multiple District 29, Lions of West Virginia, officially voted to cancel the 2020 Multiple District Convention. We feel this action was necessary for the safety of our members, and to be compliant with the recommendations and mandates issued by our government and by Lions Clubs International. We are living under extraordinary circumstances and need to do what is best for all of us and those we serve.

That doesn’t absolve us from our responsibilities as Lions clubs. Club officers need to be elected and reported in MyLCI by May 1. You may use whatever means you wish to conduct your elections (phone, email, mail.) Please make sure that every member of your club knows in advance who the candidates are and every member gets a vote.

District elections will be held via mail. Any Lion who wishes to be a candidate for district office must file an application for candidacy. An application is attached below. The application must be received by the district governor by April 10, 2020. Applications can be sent by email. The district governor will then forward all applications to the Nominating Committee for eligibility verification. All applicants will then be notified of their eligibility. Offices to be elected are district governor, first and second vice district governor, and Sight Foundation trustee. There is no application for trustee. If you are interested in being elected, email me. Applications can be sent by email to or to 77 Raven Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003.

After the applicants are certified, ballots and credential cards will be mailed to each club, according to the number of delegates assigned. Each past district governor will also receive a ballot. The completed credentials will be mailed to the Credentials Committee and completed ballots will be mailed to the Elections Committee, who in cooperation with the Credentials Committee, will verify if the ballot is valid. Valid ballots will then be counted and a winner will be declared. Ballots must be received by May 15, 2020.

In order for your club to be eligible for voting privileges, all balances due to LCI or District 29-L must be paid, and no balance shall exceed $10.00. Ballots from clubs that have balances due on May 15 will be disqualified.
